Gershon Janssen

Gershon is a seasoned technology Architect, currently working as Director of Solutions Architecture at Reideate, and Co-President of OSTERA. With extensive experience across transport, logistics, finance, healthcare, and the public sector, Gershon specializes in the design and delivery of complex digital architectures, with particular focus on identity, security, privacy, policy, and governance at scale.

His commitment to open standards began in 1998, when he contributed to the development of one of the first national open standards for intra-departmental exchange of citizen records. That early work shaped a long-standing dedication to Open Standards, Open Data, Open Source, and Open Innovation as foundational enablers of collaboration, interoperability, and sustainable digital progress. Since then, Gershon has been a consistent advocate for their development and adoption across industry, government, and international initiatives.

Over the course of his career, Gershon has served in multiple leadership roles within open standards initiatives, building deep expertise in the development, governance, and adoption of open solutions.

He actively contributed to the development of standards including OData, CMIS, WS-I Basic Profile, ISO/IEC JTC 1 Profile Specifications, WS-Calendar, BPEL4People, and PMRM – the latter published as ISO/IEC 27561:2024 (Privacy Operationalisation Model and Method for Engineering, POMME). He continues to contribute to standards such as MQTT, VIRTIO, and PKCS #11, and sits on the OECD Internet Technology Advisory Council.

Gershon brings a strong track record of working within large, distributed organizations, leading multidisciplinary teams, and aligning diverse stakeholder interests. Known for his consensus-driven approach and strategic clarity, he is a trusted voice in international standards development and digital systems architecture.
